I have been delivering lots of practical sessions to both teachers and students

It is has been tricky to find practical applications that are both safe and easy to understand. This activity on my Scratch Channel works well as it

  1. Engages students immediately
  2. Gets them to edit some code
  3. Gives the opportunity to discuss ‘training a model’ and ‘data security’

Clearly Scratch is online and has a community approach so students and staff need to be aware of precautions and dangers.

This is based on

A. CodeClub activity Set up the project | Chomp the cheese | AI & Data | Coding projects for kids and teens (an example game)

B. Scratch face sensing blocks Face Sensing Extension | Scratch Foundation with examples from the team at Scratch

We all need to consider the pros and cons of AI
