Google Sketchup is a free program that is used for making 3D models. These models can vary from simple cubes to a whole castle.
This can be very useful when you want to build a real life model but want to test it out first.
It is a lot of fun and you can practise your Maths at the same time. What could be better?

The Dolphin Browser is for smartphones and tablets like iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets.
It is possibly the best browser you can get for your portable device because it is very fast,
easy to use, highly customisable and has the "Gesture" feature allowing shortcuts by drawing letters and symbols.
Download it here: http://dolphin-browser.com/ or on your app store.

Wikipedia is a great website for finding out almost anything but does have some disadvantages. A good and bad thing is that anyone can add information to the website.
This is great because lots of people can add information to improve the website but it means people can add false information so not everything is correct.
Another problem is that one page on Wikipedia has a huge amount of text so it is hard to find what you want to know.
The text can sometimes be hard to understand even for adults but if you’re stuck just ask someone you know.
Always check the information with other sources such as books or alternative websites.

QR codes are a great and easy way for people to access websites, text, locations and more.
They look very cool on a website and are easy to make. To view the data in a QR code you must have a QR code reader which can be found on "Google Play" and "iTunes". So, QR codes are maybe the best way to share information with lots of people.
The "QR" in QR codes stands for quick response making them quick response codes.

BBC iPlayer is great! You can go back and watch programmes that have been on the TV or Radio within a week. Miss your favourite TV show on BBC 1 just watch on BBC iPlayer for free.
The biggest problem is that it only works for BBC channels. However ITV and Channel 5 have their own version of BBC iPlayer.
This is also good in schools because teachers can show their students a programme to help make the lesson interesting and make it easier to learn.
It's a great website for anyone who likes programmes on a BBC channel.

Google Earth is a program where you can view the Earth. It is a bit like Google Maps but much better.
This is a great program if you want to have a look at where you are going on holiday or you could look at a friend’s house.
It would also be good for teachers to use for geography to help their students learn about different places in a way that they enjoy.
There is a street view option on Google Earth that is used to see places like you would in real life but this is not available in all locations.
Overall Google Earth is really useful but does not get used much; so come on give this program some attention.

Open Office is a good free program for those who don't want to buy Microsoft Office. It is similar to the 2003 version of Microsoft Office and even supports the Microsoft Office files. Sadly it only has the basic programs, so, it does not work with Publisher files. Even with that drawback it is a good program for those who can't or won't get Microsoft Office. At the end of the day Microsoft Office is still better and has more options.
Open Office is the best option for anything close to Microsoft Office for free.

Scratch is surprisingly a free program that allows you to make animations using basic programming techniques.
It is a great for learning the first parts of programming but to also use your pixel art skills since you can make your own sprites and backgrounds.
This program is a lot of fun and is great for using your IT and Art skills at the same time.
